Within close proximity to Mountaintop, Lake Glenville, and only a 20 minute drive from Highlands, this property is perfectly suited for a couple but large enough to suit a family. Newly built in 2025, this property is crisp and fresh but exudes eclectic mountain charm. Professionally designed with thoughtful touches at every turn, guests will be able to unwind in privacy without ever being far from the action. The Location: Rabbit Ridge is just off a charming and scenic country road, Laurel Knob, which is perfect for walking, biking, or photo opps. Located within the the serene countryside of Cashiers, the cottage is just a scenic 4 minute drive to the heart of town and a 20 minute jaunt to Highlands.
The Property: Rabbit Ridge is perched atop a quiet hillside hamlet of 8 beautifully maintained homes with tasteful landscaping. Located at the top of the hill, the cottage has private enjoyment of the National Forest on one side and is perched over the hamlet rooftops offering a stunning view of tree canopy and a small mountain view on the other side. The Cabin: The subtle exterior of the home is designed to perfectly blend into the landscape of Cashiers and let her natural beauty shine. The carport for 1 is surrounded by gorgeous rhododendrons that bloom in late April/early May. The 2 porches are designed to engulf guests in the natural beauty of the Plateau. Watch for birds and deer in one of the rocking chairs overlooking the forest ridge on the entry porch. The screened porch offers comfy upholstered furniture, a wood burning outdoor fireplace, and a 65" tv for watching sports or curling up for a movie with a view. Interior finishes include light-filled cheery accents that mimic the sky and summer mountain landscape, wide plank white oak flooring, upscale but comfortable fixtures, and furniture so comfy that guests will want to stay put.
The Layout: Guests arrive to the carport behind the home, which is adjacent to the entry porch. Enter into a small mudroom with stackable washer/dryer. Past the mud room is an open air floor plan with a large living room with a gas fireplace, a dining room with comfy seating for 8, and a kitchen with counter seating for 4 additional guests. Also located on the main floor is a powder room, a small workspace with a door for privacy, and a primary king bedroom with patio access and an ensuite bathroom with double vanity, small soaking tub, walk in seamless shower, and a water closet. Upstairs guest have their own sizable sitting space with 65" tv and board games flanked by two additional bedrooms with small ensuite bathrooms. One has a King bed and a seamless walk in shower while the other has two twin beds and a tub/shower combo.
The Area: Cashiers, NC is the premier mountain destination in the Southeast. The downtown area is dotted with shops and restaurants. It's also minutes from the beautiful mountain scenery and waterfalls of Lake Glenville, and about a 20 minute drive from the bustling town of Highlands, NC. Guests wont mind being a bit outside of town when the drive is this beautiful- it's not to be missed. The Highlands-Cashiers plateau is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. With an abundance of opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, adventure-seekers will not find a more beautiful backdrop.
The Details: The living room, downstairs master bedroom, and upstairs gathering area are all equipped with sizable smart TV's. We have Starlink wifi. We have an EV charger suitable for Rivian and Tesla chargers. An image of the charger is available on request. The kitchen is well stocked with general kitchen essentials and then some. All of our cabins are pet friendly with prior approval and a nominal pet fee.
